Deck Gun Training
Mayor Ernie Schmit had gotten a bid to wash the mildew off the bottom of the water tower. This mildew grows on all water towers not just ours, it doesn't hurt anything but looks bad. The bid received was $5,000 to have it cleaned professionally. He requested the fire dept. see what they could do. At the April 24-2008 training night for the fire dept. they used their #600 fire truck deck gun which pushes 1200 gallons p/minute, the tower is 120 feet. Most of the mildew was removed using this process saving the city $5,000. Herman Ebnet Holdingford Maintenance Supervisor gave instructions on how the water tower works and a refresher on water hydrants, use and types in town. A very successful and productive training session especially since the opportunity to use the deck gun is so rare.
THE RESULTS WERE QUITE GOOD
